Matt Pinfield’s Holiday Extravaganza at the Hammerstein Ballroom can be described in one word: epic. The line up included Manchester Orchestra, Jack’s Mannequin, Passion Pit, and Phoenix.

Manchester Orchestra opened the show and their hypnotizing drum melodies and dark beats. Next up, Jack’s Mannequin with a high-energy performance that got the crowd dancing. Passion Pit, a crowd favorite, got everyone on their feet and dancing to their infectious beats. 

Then it was time for Phoenix, who were just nominated for a Grammy, and they closed the show with style. Thomas Mars, who always delivers his lyrics with immense feeling, entered the crowd on more then a few occasions and really got to connect with the fans. 

The over all feel of the show was extremely positive and uplifting. Let’s see if Holiday Extravaganzas Number 2 with Company Of Thieves, Pete Yorn and David Gray can measure up!
